The National Scholastics Committee announced the 2019 Scholarship Recipients for the Men of Vision Scholarship , Presidential Scholarship, and the Carlos E. Contreras Graduate Scholarship. Candidates were tasked with submitting an application and letters of recommendation speaking to their commitment to their education, their goals, as well as their dedication and embodiment of the values of Omega Delta Phi.
The Men of Vision Scholarship is awarded to a candidate who demonstrates a well rounded mastery of their academic goals, personal and career goals, a commitment to their campus and surrounding community, and a firm hold on the brotherhood’s principles and its mission. The MOV Scholarship is awarded in the amount of $1000 to a brother who exhibits going above and beyond the calling of an honorable Knight. Mr. Sabas Padilla, of the Alpha Sigma Chapter at the University of Illinois- Urbana Champaign is the recipient of this year’s Men of Vision Scholarship.
Padilla is a Senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies where he has maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.2. Padilla’s career goals consist of one day becoming a licensed architect in the state of Illinois. On top of his grueling academic coursework, Mr. Padilla completed 66.5 hours of community service during the 2018-2019 school year. In his time in the brotherhood, Padilla has served in the capacities of President, President Elect, Prospective Member Educator, PR Chairman, and Secretary where he has thrived and really demonstrated his commitment to living the values of the fraternity.
Padilla overcame challenges to finally find his calling and find himself on good footing in the Architecture program as well as juggling other personal matters which took a toll on him. Sabas was able
