Note from the Editor of 7Visions Magazine: In the midst of the ongoing global health crisis, the Department of Marketing of Omega Delta Phi is devoted to continuing its commitment to bringing you quality content to provide a sense of normalcy during these trying times. We are aware of the COVID19 pandemic and sympathize and stand in solidarity with our brothers, our Greek Community, our campus communities as well as the global community. In spite of this, we will continue to provide quality content and showcase uplifting and positive stories which will bring light in the face of so much darkness.

Today, we continue our On Wednesdays We Rock Letters series as a tribute to our National Founders, their legacies and the tradition of wearing red letters on Wednesdays as a homage to the Seven Visionary Men who founded our brotherhood at Texas Tech University on Wednesday November 25th, 1987. In tribute to that history, during this special edition of On Wednesdays We Rock Letters we feature our first ever entity, the chapter who set off into motion the legacy that we strive to build upon: the Almighty Alpha Chapter.

Chapter Name and Letter:
Alpha Theta Chapter, Aθ

Location and University: Corvallis, Oregon, Oregon State University

Chartered on campus: November 6th, 1999

Greek Council: Multicultural Greek Council. ODPhi is the only Historically Latino Fraternity with Multicultural Membership at Oregon State. They are part of the MGC alongside organizations like Kappa Delta Chi, Sigma Beta Rho, Gamma Alpha Omega, Alpha Pi Omega, and Delta Phi Omega.

Campus Presence: Historically, the brothers of the Alpha Theta Chapter have been involved with the Centro Cultural Cesar Chavez where brothers usually serve as facilitators and in the past have served as Graduate Directors, Undergraduate Peer Facilitators and Leadership Liasions. Members are also part of other centers such as the Pride Center or the Native American Long House. We are represented in organizations or on campus departments such as the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE, MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan), TRIO, and many brothers are members of clubs or associations through their majors and/or colleges. The brotherhood is also represented in organizations such as MASA (Meso American Student Association), the OSU Bachata Club, the Cooking Club, and SORCE. Departments on campus that Alpha Theta is involved with or has been in the past are Student Leadersip and Involvement, the Memorial Union, the OSU Valley Library, the Office of Institutional Diversity, the Department of Student Affairs, and University Housing and Dining Services. There has also been representation through the OSU Board of Trustees as the only student representative and voting member.

Interesting Fact: The Alpha Theta Chapter usually hosts an Alumni Tailgate annually, a Founders Day Celebration for alumni and current members that commemorates the chartering on the campus of Oregon State, as well as a Spring Brotherhood Retreat.

Chapter Traditions: The Alpha Theta chapter is one of the chapters that hosts the annual Fright Knight Halloween Costume Social. The brothers host the social on or near Halloween weekend in conjunction with several awareness events that bring light to issues such as alcohol binge drinking, sexual assault prevention, and risk management.
